In the same way that you are more likely to see Golden Arches when you are hungry, the further the Dow falls, the more likely you are to remember that bearish analyst’s argument about how the Fed’s loose money policy has driven equity prices to untenable levels or recall what the pundit was saying about how badly China’s economy is teetering. Fear begets fear, and when enough fear builds up, panic ensues.
