IOI enables this mission through research and investment recommendations, institutional-quality investor training, investment mentoring and practice and optional investor coaching and master class events.
IOI delivers proprietary institutional-quality company and market research each month. As an IOI member all this research and our archive of reports is available to you. Our work has been published at Forbes.com. SeekingAlpha.com, Medium.com and Harvest. Here are just a few examples:
IOI Signal Blog: Market and company commentary filtered through IOI’s proprietary value-based analysis approach.
IOI Tear Sheets: These one page “investment summaries” include a company valuation, options market value comparison and ideas of investment structures that make sense based on the company value vs. market price.
IOI Chart Books: Thoroughly researched company valuation analysis with a focus on understanding and bounding key drivers of growth potential. IOI’s proprietary metrics like Owners Cash Profits and Net Expansionary Cash Flows bring unique, investment guiding insight to these reports.
IOI DataBytes: Short commentary and observations on timely market and company news.
IOI SIGNAL: Our weekly newsletter published each Friday after the markets close so that our members can read through the content over the weekend. Research and education items, external content that caught our eye and members only news are included.

Our most important learning about investor training excellence is the value of “practice”. Investors need a place to apply what they have learned to real world investing cases and understand how a professional portfolio manager would approach an investment analysis. Your IOI membership provides you access to the mentor/apprentice elements of IOI outlined below.
Guided Tear Sheet Learning Calls – These WebEx online courses are designed to bring our investment analysis to life for our members. Each “Tear Sheet” investment analysis is reviewed in an open conversation with participants to ensure a clear understanding of how we arrive at our viewpoint. Members come away more competent about their own process as well as more confident in applying their conclusions to an investment action.
IOI Office Hours – Yup, it’s just like university all over again. Bring your questions to monthly office hours with IOI’s principals and we work with you to get them answered. These sessions are intended to help members get comfortable with applying their IOI learning to their own investments.
Sometimes the best solution to accelerate one’s learning is one on one mentoring and we provide a couple ways to get to that for our members.
One on One Investor Coaching – Customized coaching plans can be arranged with IOI principals on an hourly basis. Topics of study can be anything from a one on one course to subjects directed by the student.
IOI Master Events – These “Woodstock for IOI Investors” events are held one to two times a year and provide a case study driven forum for investors to convene, work on their investing analysis and structuring skills and share ideas. We try to provide ample advance notice for your planning because these events are not to be missed!
“A more in-depth knowledge of the IOI framework gained through IOI Training has helped me discern twice as many possible investment opportunities.” Evan B., Pension Fund Manager
“IOI Training Classes have made a significant difference in how I view the world of investing and that is very important and it goes way beyond equities.” Sheila C., Registered Investment Advisor
“Your outstanding training program provided a framework that made using options a practical, return-generating investment tool in my family office’s portfolio. I learned how to apply fundamentals-driven value analyses to options that improved my understanding of return probability and the impact of those probabilities on dynamic portfolio composition. There is no one else out there doing that kind of training – teaching one to invest using options vs. trading or speculating with them.” Joseph M., Family Office Chief Investment Officer
“The IOI method is the only sensible way to think about investing with options in a value-oriented fashion. Erik’s framework and teaching are second to none!” Franco D., International Hedge Fund Manager
“Thank you for ... the best investment class[es] I have ever attended. The value to me from both you and the IOI materials is noteworthy. You just don’t find your valuation approach taught in the standard texts on determining stock option values. I am so glad I [also] decided to go with [IOI 101 – Behavioral Biases and Structural Factors in Investing] at the last minute. Being a contra investor I like to zig when everyone else is zagging and the material in [that class] was so refreshing to me.” Dennis H., CPA, Registered Investment Advisor
“The weekend was great - and I intend to... go through the handouts and work out the methodology line-by-line on some of my favorite stocks.” Guy J., CPA, High Net Worth Investor
